Project Reflection

What was your final piece? Describe it.

My final piece was  the skyline of Dubai with a sunset background.

What Elements of Art are visible within your final piece? How do you know they are there? Describe at least three of them. 

the elements of art visible within my final piece are :

• line-for the outline of the buildings.
• colour-for the sunset gradient.
• space-space between background and buildings.
• shape is present in the shape of the buildings.

How did you use waste to make art? What processes did you go through to create your final piece? Did you have an experiments, discussions, sketches, research? What recycled materials did you use?

I started of with painting the sunset with the colours Red, Orange and Yellow. After that I took a pen and started drawing the skylines outline with a ruler. Next I painted in with black paint and i was done.

What artists did you research and how did they inspire you?

Some of the artists i have really been inspired by are:

Van gogh

Picasso

Leonardo da Vinci

What was most successful about your final piece and the project? Why?

I think the best part of my final piece was the sunset because it adds a pop of colour and looks really good with the black buildings , they complement each other.

What did you find most challenging within the project?

The most challenging part was trying to get the skyline to look as good as possible and exactly like Dubai so that if someone saw it they would be able to recognise it. Also ,it was challenging to draw the lines the way i wanted because the shape of a toilet roll is a cylindrical .

How did you overcome this challenge?

i didn't have any very severe challenges but I used a ruler to make sure that everything came out right and a made sure to start of with a pen and then use the paint.

How could you improve as an art learner in this project? What would you do differently next time?

If i were to do this project again i would try to make it more detailed.I know that it is a very simple piece and looks good the way it is but i still think that details would have made it better.I could do this maybe by adding more detail to the building, stars, sand  and more.

How can artists be responsible when making artworks (relate to the global context)? 

Artists can recycle things and use them to make art.

Why?

I personally think that art does make a difference to the way we think about waste because we can use the most basic things which we would normally throw away to make beautiful art.It makes us think that even waste can be turned into art and doesn't need to be thrown away.
